The Star Rules
The Star Rules are one of the most important concepts we teach in Kindergarten! They allow children to begin acting assertively when others are bothering them, but also encourage involving adults when problems are recurrent or dangerous.
The Star Rules are:
1) Ignore
2) Tell how you feel (It bugs me when ___, I wish you would stop)
3) Move away
4) Move by an adult
5) Tell an adult

Ways to Cool Off
Anger can be a very strong feeling, especially for little ones. We emphasize that anger is NOT a bad feeling, its what we do when we are angry that counts. We will be watching a video and practicing lots of strategies to help us cool down. A coloring book of ideas will come home! Here are some of the ways we discussed:
-Freeze
-Press and Count (count to 10 while pressing fingers together)
-Walk Away
-Talk it Out
-Take Bubble Breaths (like you're blowing bubbles)
-Get Busy (do something else)
